Pray For Our Regents

Tomorrow (Friday, September 9), the full Board of Regents is expected vote on who will be the next president of Baylor University. This vote is a momentous one, for it will necessarily shape the direction of our cherished university for literally decades to come. Therefore, we--the students--ask all members of the Baylor family to pray that God will grant the Regents wisdom in this final phase of the selection process. The individual chosen by the Regents to take the helm will be the thirteenth person to hold the permanent presidency of Baylor University; his or her name will be the next one placed on the list of distinguished individuals who have carried such great responsibility on their shoulders:

1. Henry Lee Graves (1846 - 1851)
2. Rufus C. Burleson (1851 - 1861)
3. George Washington Baines (1861 - 1863)
4. William Carey Crane (1864 - 1885)
5. Reddin Andrews (1885 - 1886)
(2.) Rufus C. Burleson (1886 - 1897)
