Welcome to Baylor, the Intentionally Christian Research University

On Friday, November 4th, the Baylor Board of Regents announced that they had unanimously elected John Lilley of Reno, Nevada as the thirteenth president of Baylor University. We, the students, perceive this as a momentous event in the history of our great institution. By selecting John Lilley as our next president, we believe that the Board has sealed the deal for Baylor's future.

Lilley's selection ensures that Baylor will not resume its imperceptible slouching toward a soft-headed secularization; no, Baylor will not go the way of Duke and Vanderbilt! Rather, our great university is now unquestionably devoted to going where no institution of higher learning has ever gone before.

Having John Lilley as president means that there is no longer any question regarding what kind of institution Baylor will become. There is no longer any question whether we are striving to become an academically formidable, top-tier research university. And there is no longer any question whether we are fully committed to blazing a trail as the only major, non-Catholic university that is committed to being intentionally Christian.

We, the students, are quite pleased. Thanks again, Regents.
